PROJECT OVERVIEW
21,200 SF science wing — classrooms reimagined from the ceiling down
Masscon served as prime contractor and performed the full interior renovation of the West Greene School District science wing, transforming dated classrooms and lab spaces into specialized STEM learning environments for biology, environmental science, Chemistry and hands-on maker education. The project also involved new Library, Art, Administration, Vo-Ag and Welding spaces.
The project included a renovated corridor connecting the science wing, a biology classroom featuring custom fabricated faux maple trees, a maker space with a custom giant gear design constructed in the ceiling from metal framed bulkheads and drywall, and a finished maker space with glass partition walls opening to adjacent classrooms.
In rural America, zip code too often determines opportunity. Rural students face real barriers — fewer advanced courses, limited access to technology, and the ongoing challenge of attracting qualified STEM educators to small, geographically isolated communities. By investing in a dedicated STEM wing, the district made a clear statement: that every student who walks through these doors deserves the tools, the technology, and the chance to build something great.
